*3 A2 means "Cancer suspect agent".
*4 OSHA PEL: OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit, 8-hour TWA.Based on our experience,  NANCAR® NBR elastomers are incapable of releasing residual monomers such as butadiene  and acrylonitrile resulting in airborne concentrations above regulatory limits under normal  conditions of handling, processing and use. However, customers should do in-plant testing to  assure safety of their operations.

Section V - HEALTH HAZARD DATA

¡@
  • Threshold Limit Value: None established.

  • Effect of overexposure:
    - None expected for NANCAR® NBR elastomers as delivered.

    - No exposure to significant amounts of residual monomers is expected during processing by adequate ventilation as explained in Section II. Nevertheless, at high temperatures, elastomers may emit fumes and vapors that may cause eye or respiratory tract irritation.

  • Emergency and First Aid Procedure: If irritation persists, remove the affected individual from the area. Call a physician.

Section VII - SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURE

¡@

Steps to be taken in case material is released or spilled:
Pick up slabs. Vacuum or sweep any crumbs or chunks into a container for reuse or disposal.

Waste Disposal Method:
This material is not defined or designated as hazardous. However, dispose of waste in accordance with governmental regulations.

Section VIII - SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION

¡@

Ventilation:
All ingredients may emit vapors during normal processing. Effective exhaust ventilation should always be provided to draw fumes and vapors away from workers to prevent routine inhalation. Ventilation should be adequate to maintain the ambient workplace atmosphere below the limits listed in Section II.

Respiratory Protection:
Not typically required. Wear a respirator if necessary.

Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses.

- Gloves should be worn when handling hot stock.

Section IX - SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

¡@

All elastomers will emit fumes and vapors when heated to processing temperatures. The concentration and composition of these vapors will depend upon variables such as the specific formulation and processing method and temperature.

Always use NANCAR® NBR elastomers under well-ventilated conditions and avoid continued or prolonged breathing of process vapors. For personal hygiene, wash thoroughly after processing compound, especially before eating, smoking or using toilet facilities. Do not store or consume food in processing areas. Do not use processing equipment to heat food.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light to maintain optimum quality.
- Material not used within one year should be tested to determine if degradation has occurred.
- Use compounding ingredients in accordance with the recommended precautions of the individual suppliers.
- Abnormal conditions such as equipment malfunction or use of improper equipment or procedures or hang up or stagnation of material during processing may cause decomposition. Employees involved in removing decomposing material should be provided with suitable air-supplied respirators, such as NIOSH/MSHA approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus.
